Final Impressions: Why I quit playing Thousand Arms

It takes a lot for me not to want to play a game once I start, especially a RPG. But this game did it to me. It started out okay, and had a pretty cool story that was getting interesting. The graphics are a little rough, but there was some nice anime like cut scenes. The music wasn't too bad and there is some okay voice acting. But after playing for a while, I realized the battle system was boring me. It seemed cool at first since it was different, but once I got more people in my party it seemed stupid, and simple battles seem to take forever. It's a different take on a menu-driven system. But you can only really use 2 people in your party at a time. And only the one closest to the enemies on a side-scrolling battle field can do physical attacks. The others can only hang out or do magic. They can't even do special attacks. They only let you use 2 people since whatever you tell them to do is assigned to the X button or O button. So once you charge your move, you have to hit the button to unleash it. At first this seems cool as it seems you could attack faster then some enemies if you hit the button fast enough. But I learned quickly it didn't matter how fast you tried, the enemies go when they want. Anyways after spending time fighting many battles like this I got really bored and decided to move on to something more fun. There are some fun side things you can do and it's cool how you get weapons and magic, but the main part of the game play has to be fun to really enjoy a game.
