Rogue Galaxy is the latest RPG I've been playing after getting it for my birthday last month. So far this game is pretty cool. It has a pretty fun battle system and pretty good graphics and music. One thing you notice right away is that it has a Dragon Quest VIII feel from the similar character design, you can definitely tell it was done by Level 5. The characters are sort of 3D cell shaded in a fully 3D game. Besides the characters the in-game graphics are comparable to any newer game, nothing to special. But there are some cool FMVs that are done nicely. This game does have a pretty nice soundtrack and decent voice-acting. One thing that's somewhat annoying after a while is that the characters randomly say stuff every now and then, sometimes helpful but mostly not. One nice thing is there are pretty much no load times. Once the game starts it's always loading in the background so the game flows nicely. It cuts to battles with no delay. The battle system is very active. It's pretty similar to Star Ocean 3 but has it's own unique aspects. There are a variety of moves and spells you can learn by using a screen to combine items to characters to unlock new skills. This works pretty good as it's easy to get a lot of items. Plus there are a bunch a characters you can have in your party. The story so far isn't too bad, it's sort of silly at times. But I'm thinking it'll get pretty cool. So far my only real complaint about this game is the in-battle camera. You have to control it and many times you can't see what you are fighting or where other enemies are. But it's still playable and not as bad as some.
