Resistance 2 is a pretty cool sequel to Resistance: Fall of man, but for all the
cool stuff it has it has it's faults too. A lot of stuff in the story about the
chiamera changed from how they did stuff in the first. mainly in the first game the
chiamera were created when people were infected with their virus or when people were
captured and turned into them. This one got away from that completely, even though
there are a couple references to how they used to do it nothing is really explained.
Also in the time between the games the chiamera apparently developed or always had
way crazier ships and weapons. Even though the ships are sweet they now seem like
the chiamera are invading aliens, when it was sort explained they were from Earth.
Anyway there lots of things that are not explained and the story almost seems to get
lost at times. There is a time gap between the games, but it'd be cool if something
was explained.
In this game they made Nathan Hale not only looks a little different but talks too.
I guess it's a little different since you fight with other soldiers and aren't as
much as a loner as in the first game. This game plays the same with upgraded
weapons and new enemies. in some way this one almost seems like a first person
Gears of war. The graphics are pretty awesome. The environments look more
realistic and there are good looking cut scenes. some of which the camera cuts away
too soon and doesn't show as much as you would like. one of the most annoying
things in the game is the lighting they used. it seems they attempted to use some
High Range lighting like every game does now, but the way they did it the dark areas
are way to dark. This included shadows in sunny outdoor levels. something is weird
if you need a flashlight in the shadows of a sunny day. In some areas this can make
the game spooky, but after a while it gets annoying. And you do have a flash light
but this doesn't help as much as you would like. There are also no brightness
controls in the game so you can't adjust it and I don't want to adjust My TV and
screw up how everything else looks on it.
My last complaint is the multiplayer sucks. First of all you can't play offline
deathmatch with a friend, it all has to be online. And there is no coop mode
through the main campaign like the first game had. Instead you can play special
side story levels, and this can be offline or online. Anyway, besides it faults
this is still a fun game that is worth playing if you liked Resistance.
