Okay I've had FarCry for a while, but when I upgraded my computer I got the FarCry 64-bit edition to go with my new 64-bit processor. So I decided to check it out, and right away I noticed a nice improvement. But I'm not sure if it's the 64-bit version or the fact I now have a better computer that does it. When FarCry came out there was the debate if it was better or Painkiller was, which came out at the same time. And many flocked to FarCry, so I've been wanting to see if it's as good as it's made out to be. Well after playing most of it I've come to some conclusions. First of all, this game has great environmental graphics, very cool tropical islands. But besides that the characters aren't real detailed and should look better. Second, the sound is pretty good. Once I started playing in 5.1 surround it got a whole lot better. (thanks to my recent speaker upgrade) Thirdly, there is lots of action and good weapons, but the enemies get annoying after a while. The AI is pretty good, but at times you get detected way to easy. Fourth, the acting was a little cheesy, sometime it seemed like a Serious Sam knockoff. And fifth, this game dragged on. Even though I didn't finish it, I found 3 parts when the game could've ended perfectly fine. But they kept throwing another level in. I'm all for long games, but you got to keep it from feeling like it's about to end. Now I'm right about at the end of the game, but the enemies are getting stupid and the fact I'm getting tired of playing it has made me want to stop for now. I really have no desire to finish it anymore. But it also has something to do with the fact that I have better games waiting for my attention. (Fear, Quake 4, Castlevania, ect) Also I would have to say that Painkiller is by far the better of the too games. I know I'm among the few that think this, but it's just a better game.
